Defend Of Singapore...

Educational Trip to the War Memorial, Fort Canning and Old Ford Factory...
Being a history student once, WWII still vividly remained in my head...

The museums are not for us to bear grudges, but more of a learning process so that mistakes will not be made again...
But somehow, human still don't learn from past mistakes...
We are indeed the worst creature of our form...

We induced Hatred to the world....
Why we humans just don't understand the term "Forgive & Forget"...

Annals Of War...

Poppy for remembrance of all the brave soldiers...

人日

Super late post on ...
Invited over to Ray's place for a lavish meal...
I always have a kick for homecook delight...

Shall hone my cooking skill again...
Anyway the food junkies illustrating the need for digestion after meal...
BEN & JERRY...
When will the Ben & Jerry Flagstore be opened???

Thereafter, rounds of blackjack...

Belinda was on a row...
Even James Bond would have been shivering with "777"...
And I was the banker... (-!-)'''

Dozo...

A Private Dining Haven...
Immediately, was drawn to the intimate stylish setting..
Basically its a complicated mixture of simplicity, sophistication and elegance jap-french fusion cuisine...

Once seated, you will be served with a chilled sorbet drink to quench your thirst while they introduced the variety to choose from each course catered to your liking...

I was relatively impressed by the presentation and knowledge of the food from the waiter serving us...

Kick-off:
Beef Tataki with shaved parmesan and truffle mayo mosaic...
The name itself was pretty impressive and the same goes for the food...
Everything was freshly served...
Beef lovers must try the Beef Tataki which was finely sliced...
Its like it immediately dissolved once inserted into your mouth...

Side Dish:
As your taste bug starts to rumble inside your stomach, Tempura battered soft shell crab on galette of mash and Foie gras chawanmushi topped with black truffle slice were served...

Soft shell crab tasted pretty much soft shell crab...
Luckily, the chawanmushi did manage to pull everything back with its smoothness...
Topped with Foie gras, nothing can go wrong and that little truffle adds a pinch of bitterness sweet in it...

Soup:
Followed by Crab bisque and Infusion of cepes mushroom and truffle...

Main:
So finally to the main cast of the night...
Beef tenderloin on "pu-ye" & granite hot stone and Baked Atlantic cod fillet on puff pastry...
The heat penetrating through the beef was nicely timed, coupled with the sauce and some crispy mushroom looking veg...
Soft and tender, no wonder its their signature dish...

The cod fillet tasted wonderful as well...
Not over fishy but still retain the freshness in it...
Having it slice by slice and accompanied by pastry gives you a tingling sensation...

Dessert:
Was moved to the lounge for the final course...
What better than to enjoy Mo-cha creme brulee and warm chocolate cake with ice-cream and refreshing drinks after a delightful meal in a cosy upholstered armchair with boudoir-style chandeliers and fountain by the side...

All the nice food makes your head go round and round...
Its like ecstasy...

Bon Voyage...

Mini Farewell & Birthday dinner for Glenn...
The 1st to leave us for 2 good-o years...
And there will be more leaving...

By the end of the year, few more of my 46ST will follow suit...
My buddies are leaving me all alone here...

Maybe the saying " There is greener pasture at the other side" is pretty true...
Picturing myself being in the states, would have given me a greater exposure and experience...

Good luck my friend and enjoy your trip there...
Its probably the best time with the weak US currency...

Crewroom

Teenager phase was the wildest...
A world where pubs was the hippest thing...
Smuggling in before i reach 18...

I was fascinated by the pubbing world where all the ah beng & ah lian ruled...
Now with the extinction of bengs and lians, pubbing is now more of a chill and relax playground...

It has been awhile...
My friday nights with EOians...
The usual poker game and beers(Yucks)...

Trap on an Island...

Decided to stay clear of the supposingly loving street...
Its more like a competition out there...
Every couple dressing to the occasion and glazing around to see which lucky girl is carrying the biggest bouquet of flowers....

So is love just about a big bouquet of flowers and some fancy restaurant???

Decided to live out of it...
Was kinda last min thingy plus the fact was extremely busy with presentation...
Somehow luck was on my side...
Manage to book eveything in discounted rate even on such peak period...

Everything was pretty much in tact...
Was shaking throughout the presentation...
But all went well...
Got Gold for it and off days too...

Rushed back to do some last minute packing and we are off...
45mins ferry ride isnt long at all...

1st time on Bintan!!!

The resort was pretty isolated from the outside...
Goodbye to the bustling and nosy streets...
Once footed on the resort, we were greated by a tradional dance...
There seems to be a AW to everything...

Nice Bali setting, massages by the sea, clear blue sea and of cos the PRICES...

Everything was overly commercialized...
Even more $$$ than those in SG...

There wasn't much to shop except chains of Polo Ralph Lauren...
Real or Counterfeit...
Its up to your eyes to decrypt...

Bandung Factory Outlet, the only place that sells in Rupiah...

And Pasar Oleh Oleh...
Pretty most for dining and grocery...
Thats about everything they have there...

Goofing around the serene and beautiful golf course...
One of the sports which i yet to master...

Anyway being a total noob...
We just hang around the golf course...
Watching time pass...

And of course, being in an island...
What most people did, was to have your sunglasses on with a nice magazine and a cool cocktail by your side...

But sun was not on our side as my tanning session was shortfall...
Nevertheless, a total detoxification for your mind with the nice sea breeze blowing pass your face and messing your hair up...

Capped the trip with a sumptuous feast and "live band" by your side...
A nice short getaway but maybe my first and last time there...
